We are right
where you want to be…
We are in an area
commonly referred to as “God’s Country”. We are nestled between two
beautiful rows of bluffs just a few miles north of LaCrosse,
Wisconsin.
We are just four
hours northwest of Chicago and two hours southeast of the Twin
Cites. We are a small river town but we have everything you are
looking for.

These are just a
few…
Boating Hunting and
Fishing
Boating and fishing are just a single cast away. We are a couple of
miles from the Mississippi River. Lake Onalaska has great pan fish.
In fact, they are called the “Sunfish capital of the world”. Hunting
is abundant. Choose from duck, turkey, pheasant or squirrel hunting.
Deer and turkey have both a gun, bow and arrow season. In Wisconsin
it seems like almost everyone deer hunts!
Biking and Hiking
The great river bike trail is just down the street. This abandoned
railroad bed is long and flat. If you have enough energy,
nearby Sparta has a bike trail that goes through a long tunnel!

Choose from Perrot
State Park a few miles to the north or Hixton Forest in
LaCrosse. A very unique hike is the trail at the “Seven
Bridges”. This abandoned road is so interesting that we invite
you to their website as there is just too much to mention here.
They are at
www.7bridgesrd.org.
Bird Watching
Yes, bird watching. We have most every species of our
feathered friends in our area. The highlight of them all are the
eagles that soar above the gentle flowing river. The nest in the
nearby trees and congregate on the edge of the ice and stare into
the open water waiting for their meal to arrive.
Skiing and Ice Skating
You can cross county ski on the local trails in the winter.

Ice Skating. Yes, you would not be a true northerner without a
little ice-skating. While there are many outdoor facilities,
Onalaska has a wonderful indoor facility. Visit their site at
http://www.omnicenter.net/.
Golfing
Fore! At last count the number of local courses were listed
in the teens! Most of them are public courses but you can choose
from a couple of private ones also. One of our fine local courses
will surely challenge you while getting great exercise. If this is
too much work, bring yourself and the grand children to a fun round
of mini-golf at one of several establishments.

Fitness and Exercise
How convenient! The local YMCA is only a mile down the
street. It was just constructed in August of 2006. This
state-of-the-art facility has a fitness center, zero dept pool,
track, gymnasium, and dance areas just to name a few. Visit them at:
www.laxymca.org
The Fine Arts
LaCrosse has a wonderful symphony. They have several concerts
throughout the year. Visit their website at
www.lacrossesymphony.org. There is always a production of great
local talent at the LaCrosse Theater.
http://www.lacrossecommunitytheatre.org/ In the summer,
there is Jazz on the Green at Riverside park. We have an art gallery
called “The Pump House”.
http://www.thepumphouse.org/
The University of LaCrosse hosts everything from a marching
band that has performed for professional football games, to Jazz
bands, Orchestra, Choirs and of course, theater productions.

arena that has hosted everything from concerts, to trade shows, to
professional basketball and indoor arena football to the annual
community wide Thanksgiving meal!

Restaurants
Eateries! It seems that we have a restaurant on every corner. No
mater what your taste, you can find it hear. Virtually every
national chain restaurant can be found within 10 miles. Other
locally owned restaurants feature home cooked meals and some with
fabulous views of the sunset. Our area is known for it’s fabulous
Friday Fish Fry.
Civic Organizations
Every organization you have heard of is here. Whether it be
the United Way, Lions Club, Rotary, Shriners or American Legion you
will find them all eager to have you contribute to their noble
causes.
Local Festivals
How about a festival? The granddaddy of them all is the nationally
known, Oktoberfest in LaCrosse in the fall of each year.
www.oktoberfestusa.com Neighboring communities celebrate
everything from Applefest and Kornfest, to June Dairy Days, Sunfish
Days and Catfish Days, we seem to celebrate everything!
Medical Facilities
We have two award winning medical facilities. In fact,
Gundersen Lutheran is ranked amount the top 100 facilities in the
country.
www.Gundluth.org At the same time, Franciscan Skemp is
affiliated with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
www.franciscanskemp.org By the way, we are only about 75
miles from the Rochester facility. Even an ambulance station
is just a block away.
There
are other things that are only a couple of blocks away. Three
fast food restaurants, two fuel stations, a service station, a bank
and a
new hotel.
